Ingredients
- 4oz (1/4lb) extra lean ground turkey, ground beef, or ground chicken
- 2 slices of white bread (no more than 80 cals per slice) or 1 white hamburger bun (no more than 150 calories per bun)
- 1/4 packet (about 10 grams) Sloppy Joe Seasoning (I use Club House brand)
- 165g tomato sauce
- 18g guar/xanthan gum
- 60g red/yellow/orange bell pepper (not 250 each, 250 total)
- 55g mushrooms
- 65g onion
- 1/2 tsp garlic (1 garlic clove)
Directions
1. Heat a pan to medium heat. Cook the meat until it fully cooks through. Remove from the pan and drain in a colander/strainer.
2. Add in the onions, garlic, mushrooms and pepper. Cook and stir for 5 minutes or until thoroughly mixed with the meat.
3. Add in the Sloppy Joe Seasoning and the tomato sauce. Mix with a spoon and reduce heat to low.
4. Place one serving (two slices of bread … toasted if you like it crispy!) on a plate and spread the sloppy joe mixture on top of the bread
5. Optional: Add a fat-free cheese slice or 28g fat free shredded cheese on top of the sandwich (adds 30-45 calories).
